Pastor Barbara J Gainey

With hearts both heavy and grateful, we celebrate the extraordinary life of Pastor Barbara Jean Gainey, a devoted servant of God, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and a beacon of kindness to all who knew her. Born on July 1, 1936, in Cross City, FL, Barbara was the fourth of 15 children born to Theodore Herman and Bertha Jackson, Sr. After the passing of her mother at an early age, she became a source of strength and guidance for her siblings, embracing the role of nurturer and leader with grace and love.

Barbara was the beloved wife of Mr. Willie L. Gainey, Sr., and together they built a legacy of faith, love, and service. She was the cherished mother of ten children, the proud grandmother of 29 grandchildren, the adoring great-grandmother of 31 great-grandchildren, and the blessed great-great-grandmother of two.

A dedicated worker, Barbara served as a custodian for Seminole County Public Schools before retiring in 2006 to commit herself fully to ministry. Her life’s passion was serving others—whether through her unwavering faith, her warm hospitality, or her selfless generosity. She gave without hesitation, loved without condition, and extended her kindness to all, regardless of circumstance.

Barbara found joy in life’s simple yet meaningful pleasures: fishing, sewing, knitting, cleaning, catering, cooking, and, above all, studying the Word of God. But her greatest love was always her family. She poured her heart into every meal she prepared, every hand she held, and every soul she uplifted.Her legacy of faith, compassion, and servanthood will live on in the countless lives she touched. Though she has departed from this earthly life, her spirit remains a guiding light—a reminder to love deeply, give freely, and serve humbly.
